| Job Description Summary |
The
Nurse Practitioner is a key member of Nazareth University's Health and Counseling Services team and provides comprehensive primary and urgent care services to students. This role delivers evidence-based clinical care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team and supports the overall health, wellness, and academic success of the student population.
An essential component of this position is student education and health promotion, empowering students to take an active role in managing their health. The Nurse Practitioner ensures care is delivered in a professional, ethical, and effective manner while meeting all regulatory, documentation, and compliance standards. |
| Essential Functions |
- Provide urgent, acute, and routine primary care services to students, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing within scope of practice
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical documentation within the electronic medical record system
- Collaborate closely with registered nursing staff and other Health and Counseling Services providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Consult with, refer to, and collaborate with internal and external healthcare providers to support continuity of care and optimal treatment outcomes
- Participate in health education, wellness programming, and campus-wide health initiatives as needed
- Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and students on health-related topics upon request
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and cross-campus collaboration
- Serve the division and institution through committee participation or other service activities, which may occasionally include evening or weekend commitments
- Maintain all required licensure, certifications, and continuing education
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Health and Counseling Services and the University

| Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Master's degree in Nursing with current New York State licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Current board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through an accredited certifying body
- Active DEA registration with independent prescriptive authority
- Minimum of two to three years of clinical experience, preferably in acute care, ambulatory care, or a comparable setting
- Strong clinical judgment, organizational, and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and standard office technology
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Commitment to working in a diverse environment and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive campus community

- Experience working with traditional college-aged populations
- Experience managing psychotropic medications
- Prior experience in a college health, student health, or similar setting
