Joint Research and Development, LLC. (JRAD) is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager / Capture Lead to drive growth across the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) market. The ideal candidate will be physically located in the Huntsville, AL geographic area, have established MDA customer relationships, a strong understanding of MDA acquisition organizations and procurement agencies, and a proven record of winning competitive MDA contracts. This position is a telework position.

Roles/Responsibilities:

This role leads the full capture life cycle for complex opportunities, partnering closely with technical, proposal, and executive teams to secure contracts and other transactions supporting the development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of layered and integrated missile defense capabilities.

Capture & Business Development Leadership

  • Lead capture efforts for high-value MDA opportunities, including IDIQ task orders and single-award contracts
  • Identify, qualify, and shape opportunities aligned with MDA mission priorities (e.g., readiness, sustainment, digital modernization)
  • Develop and execute capture plans, win strategies, and competitive analyses
  • Lead bid/no-bid reviews and briefings with executive leadership

Customer Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with MDA stakeholders, including:
    • Executive Leadership
    • Executing and Enabling Directorates
    • Support Activities
    • Combatant Commands
  • Represent the company at industry days, technical exchanges, and acquisition briefings
  • Track budgets, acquisition forecasts, and emerging requirements

Teaming & Partner Strategy

  • Identify and manage teaming partners, primes, and subcontractors
  • Assist in the negotiation of teaming agreements and workshare arrangements
  • Recommend prime vs. subcontract strategies based on customer and vehicle positioning

Proposal & Transition Support

  • Collaborate with proposal managers and solution architects to develop compliant, compelling proposals
  • Contribute to executive summaries, management approaches, and past performance narratives
  • Support transition planning from contract award through program kickoff

Pipeline Management & Reporting

  • Maintain an accurate MDA-focused opportunity pipeline using CRM and other market intelligence tools
  • Provide capture status, revenue forecasts, and risk assessments to executive leadership

Required Skills and Education:

  • BS/BA degree
  • 5+ years of business development and capture experience supporting MDA-related programs
  • Proven success leading captures and winning competitive MDA contracts
  • Demonstrable existing relationships with primes and acquisition offices
  • Strong understanding of MDA acquisition processes and contract vehicles
  • Excellent executive-level communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced capture environments
  • Active Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with contract vehicles such as:
    • GSA MAS / OASIS / OASIS+ / other DoD GWACs
    • MDA specific contracts
  • Familiarity with web-based market intel products, the Shipley Process, and relevant industry groups
  • Background in MDA relevant mission areas: research, development, acquisition, sustainment, and/or operation of ballistic missile defense systems for the United States

Security Clearance:

Active Secret clearance required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance.
