Overview

The Payroll Administrator performs activities necessary to support the bi-weekly payroll processing for the domestic group of employees. Duties include checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, validating new hire data for accuracy, and other payroll compliance audits. The person processes all employee final payments, income withholding orders, and employment verifications. Additionally, the Payroll Administrator provides a high level of customer service and resolves inquiries; determines root cause of the problem; explains best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.



Responsibilities

    Supports and contributes to the processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees across 48 states.
  • Communicates and partners with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity and accuracy of payroll data, including auditing new hire, termination, transfer, and compensation change information
  • Coordinates the processing of employee income withholding orders with the service provider, ensuring timely notification, accurate calculations, and proper documentation within Workday. Verifies that correct withholding amounts are deducted and monitors ADP for garnishment refunds, ensuring timely credits are applied to employee accounts
  • Calculates and processes off-cycle checks for termination payments while ensuring compliance with state laws.
  • Provides customer service support to payroll customers by responding to inquiries related to paychecks, time entry procedures, and navigation within Workday. Assists employees in locating payroll forms and information, submitting completed documentation.
  • Processes direct deposit returns and stop payment on checks.
  • Performs a variety of routine office duties such as, filing payroll-related documents in the appropriate personnel file or payroll folders.
  • Work with Accounting team to review and process escheatment matters.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned by the payroll manager.
  • Keeps current with market trends and demands.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates Degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably through the American Payroll Association
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong professional ethics to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information of applicants, employees, former employees, and other matters affecting employee relations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate files/records
  • Detail orientation and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist colleagues with other payroll duties as necessary
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as necessary to support business operations.
  • Working on holidays and weekends when payroll schedule and special events require.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree

The expected salary range for this role is $22.00-$33.00/HR.
