Description

Key Responsibilities

Business Collaboration

  • Work closely with business and technical groups to analyze needs, make recommendations, and design solutions that are reliable, flexible, scalable, and cost
  • Drive new technology assessments and adoption to deliver business value.

Data Engineering & Integration

  • Design, build, and run ETL pipelines (SSIS/TSQL) to ingest, transform, and deliver data from enterprise systems.
  • Design and deliver data integration solutions between internal applications and external partner platforms (REST APIs, SFTP and file exchanges, change data capture (CDC)).
  • Engineer data marts and staging layers using dimensional modeling (star/snowflake, conformed dimensions) to feed semantic models.
  • Drive data quality, including data quality rules, data cleansing, and exception handling.
  • Use Azure DevOps for version control, pullrequest reviews, workitem tracking, and CI/CD of database/SSIS/SSAS artifacts.

Semantic Modeling with SSAS

  • Design, build, and maintain SSAS semantic models-Multidimensional cubes and Tabular models, MDX/DAX.
  • Implement partitions, aggregations, and processing strategies (full/incremental) and caching to achieve consistent performance.

BI Delivery

  • Deliver Excel solutions over SSAS using PivotTables/PivotCharts and cube functions; manage connections/parameters and refresh governance.
  • Publish, version, and distribute Excel templates in Microsoft 365/SharePoint.
  • Deliver SSRS and Power BI solutions as needed

Support, Performance & Reliability

  • Own run health for pipelines and refreshes: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postincident RCAs with corrective/preventive actions.
  • Partner with Infrastructure/DBA to tune SQL Server (indexing, partitioning, Query Store), plan capacity, and execute backup/restore and DR.
  • Performance optimization (scheduling, dependencies, concurrency) for ontime data availability and predictable runtimes.
  • Assist contract DBA in database administration including general maintenance, security management and auditing, upgrades, and patch management.

Security, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Implement securebydesign practices (leastprivilege access, secrets management, encryption) across pipelines, databases, and SSAS.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity on remediation and follow incidentresponse practices.

Data Governance & Documentation

  • Keep technical specs, data dictionaries, semantic definitions, refresh cadences, and owners current.
  • Maintain comprehensive lineage and dependency mapping across pipelines, SSAS models, and downstream Excel/reporting assets.
  • Standardize naming conventions, folder structures, and modeling patterns to drive consistency and reuse.

Leadership, Mentoring & CrossTeam Support

  • Provide guidance to application development teams on database design and performance optimization of application databases.
  • Provide project leadership through scoping, estimating, design reviews, and code reviews; mentor teammates in TSQL, SSIS, MDX/DAX, and operational best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in datawarehouse development, data integration, and/or BI delivery using Microsoft technology stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
  • Dimensional modeling (star/snowflake) and delivery of conformed data marts used across business domains.
  • Handson SQL Server and TSQL expertise.
  • Multidimensional and tabular SSAS experience.
  • Excelcentric BI over SSAS.
  • Proven data integration work with internal systems and external.
  • Operational mindset: monitoring/alerting, troubleshooting, incident response, and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of securebydesign practices and data handling aligned to internal cybersecurity expectations.
  • Experience documenting requirements into technical specifications and data contracts, with clear lineage and ownership.
  • Practical planning skills: estimating, sequencing, and incremental delivery using agile methodology.
  • Effective communication with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders; collaborative approach with Infrastructure/DBA teams.

Preferred

  • Airline industry experience.
  • Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • SQL Server administration.
  • Formal training in data modeling (3NF and Star Schema).
  • Experience with predictive/advanced analytics.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure, storage, and virtualization as they pertain to BI/data platforms.
  • Scripting for ETL/automation in .NET (C#) and/or Python.
