Position Summary

Position Summary

The Buyer I position uses expertise in performing a variety of purchasing activities including pricing, negotiating terms, volume discounts, long-term contracts and delivery of goods\services with suppliers. This Buyer I processes all POs/PAJs/SAP transactions at location for all indirect expenses that includes all non-manufacturing materials, Tools, Maintenance, Facility, blanket POs, office supplies etc. Can assist other Buyers to procure Manufacturing materials, and services.

Applies government laws and regulations while conducting procurement activities and ensures alignment with management objectives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain schedule and visibility, identify and resolve issues until shipment. Generate work

    orders and issue purchase orders based on MRP (SAP) messages.

  • Performs complex purchasing activities including pricing, volume discounts, negotiating terms and long-term contracts with suppliers, and delivery of goods\services
  • Negotiates best terms (price, delivery, and payment terms) with suppliers, while maintaining efficient output of purchase orders, to reach highest quality at best value
  • Establishes source selection criteria for evaluation of quotations including target pricing
  • Evaluates quotations received from prospective suppliers and makes decisions regarding award of purchase orders
  • Process changes, re-schedules and outside processing that are
  • Implements formal and legal contractual documentation into the purchase orders, encompassing all corporate and government requirements
  • Resolves discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance
  • Ensures compliance to government laws, regulations and procurement policies and procedures
  • Follow through special requests and expedites. Identify potential late deliveries and plan recovery.
  • Identifies problem areas, initiates corrective action and establishes problem resolution dates in a timely manner
  • Maintains current and accurate purchase order data in the purchasing system (e.g. delivery dates, pricing, change orders) required to accomplish the production schedule goals.
  • Prioritize material handling from receipt to shipment based on schedule requirements and department workload.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

  • Years Experience: 2- 5 years of relevant experience

SKILLS

  • SAP procurement software experience

  • Buying cycle experience

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Procurement in aerospace/manufacturing environment

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role

  • Demonstrated ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, handle bidding process and analyze all bid results

  • Strong experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success

  • Comfortable navigating a rapidly changing environment that encourages innovation, agility, and proactive problem-solving.

  • Solves complex problems and exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management

  • Familiarity with production planning and demand forecasting

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $69500 to $115000 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
