STA Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay Rate: $46.06 per hour

Travel: Up to 70%

We are seeking an experienced Quality / Manufacturing Engineer to support supplier technical assistance (STA) activities for interior manufacturing commodities. This role is critical to ensuring supplier manufacturing readiness, launch execution, and ongoing quality performance. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on manufacturing knowledge, supplier-facing experience, and a proactive approach to issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead supplier manufacturing readiness and ensure compliance with quality, delivery, capacity, and warranty requirements
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between internal teams and suppliers to support product launches and ongoing production
  • Drive cross-functional problem-solving, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide on-site technical leadership during supplier escalations, including emergency containment and root cause resolution
  • Execute and support APQP and PPAP activities aligned to program timing and launch milestones
  • Conduct early manufacturing feasibility assessments to prevent production disruptions
  • Analyze supplier performance data to support sourcing decisions and quality improvements
  • Support supplier development initiatives focused on long-term capability and operational excellence



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, quality engineering, process planning, or product launch
  • Experience with interior manufacturing systems such as seating, instrument panels, consoles, door panels, or similar assemblies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, welding, molding, automated/manual assembly, controls automation, paint, or finishing
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively to supplier locations
