What you'll do As a member of our Dynamic Land team, you will apply your Project Engineering skills and customer knowledge to build, implement, document, test, troubleshoot, and deploy program and network solutions. You will also diagnose and resolve sophisticated technical problems, support network architecture, and maintain various network communication protocols. You will aide and assist in sophisticated demonstrations for current and future customers. You will be directly involved in a diverse number of communications programs and projects for US DoD customers as well as commercial applications. This fast-paced multi-tasking environment requires you to interact with a broad spectrum of program managers, hardware/software/project engineers and various internal support organizations on a regular basis. You will troubleshoot the most complex data network and hardware problems. The role involves being empowered to research technological advancements and evaluate sophisticated data networking technologies to understand their potential. You will occasionally travel to participate in field work at customer sites internationally and domestically. The day-to-day What's the day-to-day like for this candidate? This role involves working directly with end customers and program offices. You will also work with product management and development to understand problems and build practical solutions using creativity, technical knowledge, and past experience. You will lead, design and specify system performance from requirements through implementation, test, and deployment. You will invent, demonstrate, validate, and adjust solutions by incorporating feedback from within and outside the organization. You will balance technical trade-offs to achieve difficult performance goals in demanding environmental conditions. You will contribute technical and programmatic content to proposal development in multiple sectors. Finally, you will maintain and grow a market presence and stay ahead of market trends and challenges in a dynamic environment within a fast-paced industry. What you'll need Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience related to technological work Over 10 years of working with SATCOM-related technologies 5+ years of experience with Linux-based systems Advanced proficiency in identifying and fixing the component hardware, software, networking, and communications protocol problems Generating system requirements and derivation Experience in responding to proposals Strong proficiency with network Monitoring protocols and tools such as Wireshark, WinPcap, and Nfdump, as well as with network management protocols such as SNMP, LDAP, and AAA Up to 50% domestic and international travel US Citizenship Former military experience Active Secret Clearance required *This will be a hybrid role based in Carlsbad, CA, Reston, VA, or Germantown, MD.* #LI-BBS What will help you on the job Experience executing large Government programs System Architecture and Design Linux and Networking Modem and Communication Principles Salary range $146,500.00 - $231,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $177,500.00- $266,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
