Summary:

The Supervisor of Clinical and Translational Science is responsible for supervision and guidance of the research scientists as assigned for implementation of high-quality investigator-initiated clinical research protocols, which fit the mission, values, and strategic plans of the Cook Children's Health Care System, but fall outside the scope of sponsored clinical trials. This individual is a resource expert for the design, initiation, conduction, analysis, and publication of clinical research projects of both a retrospective and prospective nature and serves investigative teams by active participation in the role of a Research Scientist.

Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree in appropriate field (e.g., Research, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Chemistry, etc.) and 7+ years of relevant professional experience is required

  • A PhD with relevant professional experience is preferred

  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills is required

  • Experience in supervising and managing subordinates is preferred

  • Pharmaceutical or related industry experience with clinical trials, including interaction with Regulatory Agencies, especially FDA, is preferred

  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts

  • Demonstrated expertise in effectively managing data, statistical analysis and interpretation, medical and grant writing, and study design

  • Computer proficiency in word processing and Excel

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Knowledge of principles of research and federal regulations

  • Excellent writing and editing skills; Strong organizational skills and be detail oriented

  • Ability to understand complex statistical and protocol design

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and oral, written and electronic interpersonal communication skills

Certification/Licensure:

  • Maintains licensure and certification as appropriate to profession

  • Certification (e.g. Statistical Analyst Certification) or research appropriate certification preferred
