Job Summary


The Accountant is responsible for executing transactional accounting activities and supporting the financial close process to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for a large, multi-state operation. This role reconciles accounts, prepares financial statements, supports governance and compliance initiatives, and provides financial guidance to management. The Accountant contributes to continuous improvement efforts, strengthens internal controls, and collaborates cross-functionally to support long-term profitable growth.

Job Responsibilities




  • Execute transactional accounting operations and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.



  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts and transactional accounting entries on a monthly basis.



  • Perform specialized accounting procedures in compliance with US GAAP and applicable internal and external standards.



  • Support the adoption and implementation of new accounting pronouncements and policy updates.



  • Provide financial guidance to management and operational teams to enhance efficiency and value creation.



  • Assist with annual audits, including preparation of documentation and follow-up on audit findings.



  • Prepare and review required external reporting for governmental agencies.



  • Support implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of internal control processes across transactional accounting functions.



  • Collaborate with global accounting teams to adapt and implement standardized accounting rules and practices.



  • Build effective working relationships across finance, tax, legal, and operational teams.



  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and technology enhancements.



  • Perform additional duties as assigned and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive work environment.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.



  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.



  • Growing depth of knowledge and experience with US GAAP.



  • Experience supporting transactional accounting governance and compliance initiatives.



  • Understanding of internal controls, process improvement, and financial reporting requirements.



  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.



  • Ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to non-financial stakeholders.



  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.



  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including experience working in matrixed organizations.



  • Ability to travel up to 5% as required.




Education




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.



  • Master's degree in Accounting preferred.




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a complex organization.



  • Experience in large, multi-state, or multinational environments preferred.




Certifications




  • CPA preferred.
