Job Summary

The ACE Program Advisor plays a key role in supporting students enrolled in Early College Programs (ECP) under the supervision of the ECP Director. This position provides a comprehensive range of student services, including recruitment, admissions, placement testing, financial aid guidance, academic advisement, registration, community education, facilitation and coordination of program retention workshops/events, and referrals to additional resources.

As the primary liaison between the ACE Program, participating students, and their parents/guardians, the advisor is responsible for guiding high school students and their families through the college's student services processes. This role also involves coordinating and delivering services to ACE students while tracking their academic progress from high school graduation through the community college transfer process to a university.

Essential Functions

40% - Coordinates programs within the Early College Programs Department, ACE, and Hoop of Learning (HOL) at Phoenix College by providing student support, monitoring progress, academic planning/advising, and orientation to enhance student success. Assists prospective, new, and continuing students in all aspects of student services, including recruitment, placement testing, academic planning, registration, financial aid, orientation, programming, and retention activities/workshops/events. Advises students regarding degree options, transfer options, academic success, and financial planning; meets and corresponds with students and high school administrators to build and maintain the college's strategic partnerships. Tracks student progress through completion and designs appropriate interventions.

20% - Coordinates, implements, and evaluates processes and procedures. Implements program outreach as well as recruitment and retention activities. Designs, develops, maintains, and delivers program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional materials. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to Early College Programs and students to inform the implementation of policies and procedures and/or to prepare a variety of reports. Reviews program requirement criteria to evaluate and determine eligibility.

20% - Serves as program and community liaison providing program and policy advisement and related information. Monitors and coordinates the provision of information and technical assistance to students, staff, and external partners regarding Early College guidelines and applicable laws, policies, rules, and regulations.

10% - Develops, analyzes, coordinates, and implements program functions and activities. Facilitates and manages student grant/scholarship funds within Early College Programs, which includes the evaluation of grant qualifications in accordance with MCCCD policies, regulations, and state and federal laws. Evaluates policy to determine and ensure program compliance.

10% - Assists in the execution of other outreach and recruitment programs and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
2. One (1) or more years of experience working in a higher educational environment with a role in Enrollment Services (advisement, recruitment, registration, testing, career services, or financial aid).
3. Experience using a Student Information System (i.e., Peoplesoft, Banner).
4. Experience working with a culturally diverse student population.
5. Experience presenting group orientation or providing group advisement.
6. Experience preparing, maintaining and/or interpreting statistical data including databases and spreadsheets.

Special Working Conditions
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visa.
  • Saturdays are required
  • Possess a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • May require to travel within MCCCD locations and within Maricopa County
  • Some evenings required
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
