Job Summary Ready to cultivate your skills and expertise in international education for our Students at Phoenix College? Our International Education Program office, within the Student Affairs division is looking for a dynamic individual, who can be a resource and advocate for our growing international student population.This key member of our team, provides accurate and timely information to prospective and current international students on international admission procedures and student visa-related processes, including referrals to relevant campus and community resources. Advises and assists English as a Second Language (ESL) students throughout the admission and enrollment process, while exercising independent judgment in accordance with established guidelines. Essential Functions 30% - Assists current and prospective international students by providing information on accessing services related to international student processes, including student visa requirements, admissions, assessment, advisement, and registration. Prepares required sponsored student documentation for sponsoring agencies and students. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), utilizing the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) for federal compliance and reporting. 25% - Performs academic advising functions for international students, with a primary focus on English as a Second Language (ESL) advising, enrollment activities, and program support. 15% - Maintains the departmental calendar and scheduling for the International Education Program, and utilizes the college financial system for budget-related activities. 15% - Assists the departmental manager and other staff with special projects related to international and intercultural events, and maintains and updates student information and departmental websites. 15% - Assists in the advisement and coordination of social functions and activities for the International Club. Serves as a primary designated driver for student club activities, visiting scholars, and other guests using a school vehicle. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. One (1) or more year's experience working in a higher education environment such as admissions, records and/or registration; enrollment services; international or equivalent. 2. One (1) or more years of experience working within different perspectives servicing a changing and culturally unique student body population. 3. One (1) or more years of customer service experience with a high degree of public contact, including in-person, telephone, online, text and email communication. 4. One (1) or more years of experience utilizing online student information systems, online financial systems, and/or human resource or payroll systems. 5. Proficient written communication skills in multiple languages (e.g., Arabic, French, Spanish, etc.). 6. One (1) or more years of experience providing academic advising to international and/or ESL students. 7. One (1) or more years of experience working with federal regulations processes and policies (e.g., immigration and financial aid). Special Working Conditions MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visa. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, lifting, typing, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
