We are looking for a creative, self-motivated, and conscientious team player with the ability to communicate design and planning concepts both graphically and verbally. This position requires a versatile entry-level professional who is eager to learn and values the opportunity for professional development through collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings strong graphic capabilities, a willingness to engage in design at multiple scales, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly-both visually and verbally. Growth and advancement opportunities will be dependent on the successful candidate's ability to demonstrate skills and assume responsibility.

In the role of Landscape Designer, we'll count on you to:

  • Work under the direction of a registered Landscape Architect to assist in development of projects from concept design to construction documentation. Typical project types range from parks, plazas and streetscapes to healthcare, education, science and technology campuses.

  • Work across a variety of scales, demonstrating the ability to think strategically about site systems while also executing detailed design work.

  • Understand that assignments have specified objectives and require investigation of many variables, including site analysis, building operation, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, site grading and storm drainage

  • Create conceptual and detailed drawings using 2D and 3D digital illustration tools and free-hand drawing to be used in design discussions with teams of varying disciplines.

  • Provide production support during concept and schematic design, design development, and construction document phases of projects

  • Collaborate with architects, planners, engineers and other disciplines to develop and advance design thinking, concepts in project work and studio culture

  • Support both landscape and urban design projects and coordinate effectively with other team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering

  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel experience

  • Photoshop a plus

  • Ability to prepare site plans and understand the principles of grading and drainage

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, LandFX, Revit, Rhino, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, advanced 3D modeling, computational design and rendering with programs such as Grasshopper, Lumion, Enscape

  • 2-3 years of professional experience or internships as a landscape designer and urban designer

  • Strong graphic communication skills, including both digital rendering and hand sketching/drawing

  • Demonstrated design sensibility-creativity, curiosity, iterative concept development, and clear visual storytelling across multiple scales and platforms

  • Strong interest in sustainable / regenerative design

  • Experience with a full range of design phases, including site analysis, site planning, urban design, conceptual development and construction documentation

  • Understanding of technical aspects of landscape architecture and associated terminology including construction materials and processes, grading and drainage, plant material and planting design

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a positive studio culture
