Description Location: 2239 E. 55th St. Cleveland, OH 44103 Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Status: Nonexempt Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) changes lives and strengthens our communities through services that educate, empower, and provide the opportunity to earn a paycheck! VGS is a highly acclaimed, successful, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with over 135 years of dedicated experience serving persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment. We are currently seeking a Development Associate who will play a key role in supporting the organization's fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This person will be expected to complete the following duties in order to be successful in the position and be able to contribute to the success of the agency. Gift Processing Accurately process all gifts and pledges in the donor database in accordance with established VGS procedures. Prepare and distribute donor acknowledgement letters and related correspondence in a timely manner. Maintain electronic records of gifts for internal tracking and external audit puposes. Track pledges and coordinate reminder communications as appropriate. Reconcile gift records with the Finance Department on a monthly basis. Donor Database Management Maintain and update donor records in Raiser's Edge, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Enter and track donor interactions, meetings and communications. Generate reports, dashboards, mailing lists, and queries to support fundraising initiatives and leadership requests. Perform routine database maintenance and data clean-up. Support reporting needs for fundraising programs and organizational leadership. Fund Development and Grant Support Conduct research on prospective and current individual, corporate and foundation donors. Assist in maintaining grant and foundation calendars, including submission and reporting deadlines. Support preparation and assembly of grant proposals and reports. Assist with developmental mailings and associated logistics. Assist with donor outreach planning and scheduling meetings for leadership. Compile statistical information and assist with analysis of fundraising performance and giving trends. Administrative Provide administrative support for Development Committee and Engagement and Outreach Committee meetings, including scheduling and note-taking. Proofread development and marketing materials as needed. Maintain familiarity with organizational programs and initiatives to support donor communications. Monitor office and department supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Events, Volunteer Engagement, and Communications Support Assist with implementation of fundraising events and volunteer engagement activities. Maintain records related to event participation, revenue and outcomes. Assist with monitoring and reporting on communications metrics and engagement data. Qualifications Bachelor's degree is preferred. 1-3 years experience in nonprofit development, fundraising or related administrative work. Experience working with CRM systems and fundraising best practices. Raiser's Edge experience preferred. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Able to work under pressure and meet work deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability.
