Mechanical Project Engineer

Position Summary:

Candidate must have a solid mechanical project engineering background. The primary role will be managing new and existing products design projects, planning, execution, and maintenance of mechanical engineering projects. Inspection of parts, trouble shooting and coordination with vendors is also required. Very diligent attention to detail and following up on every aspect of each project is essential. Excellent problem solving and SolidWorks CAD experience are required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage new products and existing product design projects.
  • Maintain engineering documents and systems.
  • Solve manufacturing and engineering problems.
  • Work with vendors on qualifying of parts, inspection and quality issues.
  • Work with patent attorneys to draft and maintain Utility and Design Patents.
  • Work with agencies to gain and maintain product approvals.
  • Staying updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S) from four-year college or university, or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have project management experience, generally consisting of new product design and improvement of existing products, parts and processes.
  • Experience with part quality and basic inspection skills is required.
  • This person must be proficient with SolidWorks CAD as well as MS Office. SolidWorks Certification preferred.

Communication Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. The successful candidate must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate our current tools, also do preliminary testing of any new tools.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 80% of the time.
  • Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must make occasional shop/floor visits or vendor sites as needed.

  • Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to manage stress depending on deadlines and ongoing projects.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Must be able to receive and analyze information.
  • Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur.
