What You Will Do:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations, of the NLU Coffee Shop, the Daily Grind and the NLU Store. In addition, this individual will support additional food service operations and catered events. The successful candidate will provide leadership to student workers, and maintaining a professional and welcoming environment for all members of the National Louis University (NLU) community, serving as a motivator, leader, and problem-solver.



Essential Responsibilities

    Operations Management: Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient workflow for The Grind and the Store, providing excellent customer service, resolving complaints and answering questions. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining a food managers sanitation license.
  • Hiring, training and scheduling of student workers.
  • Inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Managing POS system and daily accounting procedures.
  • Ability to oversee the Daily Grind and NLU store operations at each of our IL campuses.
  • Additional Support to Events: Coordinate logistics such as venue setup/breakdown and catering, Handle on-site event management, addressing any issues or challenges that arise during events.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School diploma or GED plus about 5 years of experience required.
  • Prior experience in event management or office administration is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between our Wheeling, Chicago and/or Lisle Campuses.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $19.71 to $27.60 per hour (typical workweek is 37.5 hours). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
