Summary:

Provides patient care in an urgent care setting in collaboration with Medical Providers and other members of the care team. Oversees departmental flow to ensure quality care is provided. Acts as a resource person and professional role model for other members of the healthcare team.

Type of Opportunity: Part time FTE: 0.50 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

*Determines patient acuity and makes placement decisions for patients who are not able to be roomed on arrival.
*Identifies patient visit preparation needs based on patient preparation guidelines to include initiating POCT and radiology tests in collaboration with medical provider.
*Coordinates patients care through collaboration with the patient, family and healthcare team.
*Delegates patient care activities to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.
*Assists with treatments and administers medication within protocols approved by medical staff and as ordered by medical provider.
*Assists in orientation of new staff or students, and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
*Maintains oversight of departmental flow and patient care in the ER/Urgent Care setting.
*Works to the level of licensure or education providing direct patient care.
*Assists Providers with various procedures.
*Assist in patient transfers to higher level of care, as order by medical provider.
*Performs testing such as oximetry, ECG, glucometry, POCT, urinalysis and other tests.
*May be assigned to Code Blue Team.
*Operates patient monitoring systems specific to unit needs (such as, cardiac monitoring).
*Uses computerized systems at the skill level commensurate with the responsibilities included in this description.
*Insures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit. Cleans and stores equipment. Empties trash, linen bags and sharps containers.
*Attends department staff meetings and/or in-services and keeps current with developments in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and/or publications. Participates in and endorses the established Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS) patient satisfaction programs
*Maintains positive communications and collaboration with staff and providers regarding patient status and/or problems.
*Organizes care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team.
*Performs other functions as required and/or under medical direction.

Qualifications:

Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required
Academic Preparation:
*Degree from accredited academic nursing program (If a program is under conditional status, approval may be granted by system CNO)
*Minimum ADN preparation with expectation of BSN completion within 5 years of hire
* BLS required
