About the unit

The Post-Surgical Care Unit has 14 short-stay beds and specializes in surgeries such as Plastic, Urology, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Same-Day Surgery cases, Cath Lab Ablations, and short-stay cases, including inpatient holds that require an extended stay in the PACU. It is a fast-paced unit where we take pride in our teamwork and the quality of care we deliver to our patients. A new member of our team should possess strong critical thinking, assessment, and clinical decision-making skills.

Scope of work

Provide patient care assignments as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse. Clerical/manages supplies/equipment in designated care areas. Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy. Documents in electronic medical record. Acts as a receptionist and organizes daily work assignment based on unit priorities. Organizes daily work assignments based on unit priorities. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
  • Current CNA certification preferred
