SUMMARY: The Transportation Manager oversees the day-to-day execution of all transportation activities across all modes of Transportation in North America while ensuring Optimization of our Cost/Service as well as accurate freight invoice audit. This role maintains all transportation systems, manages carrier relationships, and leads transportation-related projects that enhance service, efficiency, and cost performance. The position collaborates closely with the DC Network, Operations Engineering, IT, and Logistics Customer Service to align transportation operations with broader network and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Carrier Management
    • Maintain and enhance strong partnerships with all carrier partners.
    • Manage daily carrier performance, service levels, capacity, and escalation resolution.
    • Monitor carrier KPIs and implement action plans to improve cost efficiency and on-time performance.
    • Support carrier onboarding, rate adherence, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Financial Controls and Freight Audit
    • Support budget planning with data-driven insights on cost drivers.
    • Oversee freight bill audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Partner with Finance on accruals and variance investigations.
  • System Set-Up and Maintenance
    • Administer Transportation Management System (TMS) applications, including routing guides, rates, carrier setup, and master data.
    • Coordinate system updates, testing, troubleshooting, and process documentation.
    • Partner with IT on system enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution.
  • Project Management
    • Lead transportation-related projects, including cost-savings initiatives, process improvements, system enhancements, and network redesign efforts.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, develop timelines, track deliverables, and communicate progress to leadership.
    • Prepare analyses, business cases, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Work closely with the Distribution Center (DC) Network to align transportation operations with distribution strategies and service expectations.
    • Partner with DC Load Planners to share best practices and identify or expand optimization opportunities.
    • Collaborate with Operations Engineering on process optimization, productivity initiatives, and network modeling.
    • Partner with IT on system performance, data quality, integrations, and issue resolution.
    • Coordinate with Logistics Customer Service to resolve customer-impacting transportation issues, improve communication flows, and enhance service reliability.
  • Compliance and Continuous Improvement
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and contractual requirements.
    • Identify improvement opportunities across cost, service, workflow, and system performance.
    • Maintain and enhance SOPs, KPIs, and process documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation or logistics roles, with a focus on carrier management and TMS operations.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
