Overview

Transmission Project Development (TPD), an innovative organization within Capital Infrastructure Delivery (CID) that is tasked with the integration of clean energy into Con Edison's electrical systems, seeks dedicated, dynamic, and innovative team members to join its team. The selected team member will be on the leading edge of incorporating renewable energy generation such as Offshore Wind, Large Scale Batteries and Hydroelectric Power. In addition, selected team member will support large scale infrastructure projects throughout the Company's service territory. Team members must be committed to excellence, and personnel safety, be able to provide exemplary customer service, collaborate with co-workers to arrive at sound business resolutions, demonstrate a high energy level, work under pressure, and be able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting stringent deadlines. Strong organizational, teamwork, initiative, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are essential. To succeed in this position, the team member must be self-motivated, resourceful and articulate, with the confidence to navigate challenging conversations. TPD team members possess a "can-do" attitude, have a clear sense of accountability, and understand what it takes to meet customers' needs. Strong oral and written communication skills are required for managing projects, making presentations and handling project conflict resolution. Computer proficiency is required, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other software tools used for collaboration. Familiarity with the engineering, design, and construction of electric substations and transmission, namely underground transmission, facilities is preferred. Experience managing project schedules, in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6, is also preferred.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the Clean Energy Future and New York States renewable integration goals as both Con Edison and third-party developers implement major electric transmission infrastructure upgrades to bring renewable energy generation into Con Edisons service territory.
  • Help lead a team that involves defining and following existing workstreams to support necessary coordination relative to third-party clean energy developer routing in the service territory. This includes supporting all required activities to safeguard Con Edisons reliability, sustainability, and ensure safety.
  • Develop and oversee technical and other project management aspects which includes reporting and managing costs, quality, scope, and schedule while being proactive with addressing challenges and risks.
  • Develop and implement non-traditional/innovative project delivery and communication strategies that support critical project goals and constraints, execution, as well as gather data and lessons learned for the purposes of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a continuous field presence, conduct site visits, refine proposed scopes of work, and coordinate inspections of completed work for project closeouts.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service and an ability to manage a range of stakeholders, build and maintain relationships, facilitate efficient technical problem solving, and balance customer needs against technical/project requirements.
  • Assist in implementing a rigorous training program for all supporting personnel and ensure training is properly maintained to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction/Project Management or equivalent and 4 years of experience in managing and/or supporting technical, utility infrastructure projects or
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction/Project Management or equivalent and 7 years of experience in managing and/or supporting technical, utility infrastructure projects or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience in managing and/or supporting technical, utility infrastructure projects
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong oral and written communications, particularly in a technical, project environment, required.
  • Experience working in a team, tracking tasks and reporting progress, required.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office, required.
  • Familiarity with services, construction, Design Build/EPC contracts and contract development, negotiations, and administration, preferred.
  • Familiarity with project schedules, utilizing Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent software, preferred.
  • Experience with electric utility, specifically substation and transmission, projects, including engineering/design development and street construction activities, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and other collaboration tools, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be willing and able to work in the field and office environment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the company service territory and surrounding areas, and travel to company locations.
  • Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to walk extensively, climb ladders, perform inspections in manholes and trenches, and travel or walk on uneven paths.
  • Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions, both indoors, outdoors.
  • Must be willing and able to work in the vicinity of high voltage equipment (live electricity), transmission lines, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to use personal vehicle for company business on a daily basis.
