Finance Technology Sr Director

We are seeking a seasoned Finance Technology Leader to lead our global finance systems strategy and roadmap, focusing on key platforms like Workday, Kyriba, Workday Adaptive, TM1, FIS, PSA, Coupa, and other critical technologies. The ideal candidate offers deep finance systems expertise combined with strategic vision and the ability to transform business goals into scalable, well-governed, and data-driven technology solutions.

What the day will look like

  • Serve as the senior technology leader for Finance, accountable for the strategy and roadmap of our global finance technology ecosystem, with Workday Finance as a primary platform.
  • Globally oversee Workday Finance, Kyriba, Coupa, Workday Adaptive, TM1, FIS, PSA, and related tools, ensuring end-to-end process integrity and data consistency.
  • Partner with the CFO organization: Controllers, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Procurement, and operations to align technology capabilities with corporate strategies.
  • Oversee the design and optimization of technology for key finance processes, such as Record to Report (R2R), Order to Cash (O2C), Procure to Pay (P2P), Forecast to Plan, Treasury and Cash Management, and Project Financial processes.
  • Direct the platform governance framework for finance technology, encompassing demand intake, prioritization, change control, release management, and communication.
  • Lead a distributed team of finance technology professionals (solution architects, business analysts, developers, integration specialists, administrators) while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure seamless integration and data transfers between finance platforms and associated systems (HR, CRM, billing, tax engines, data warehouse/analytics platforms).
  • Handle the review, introduction, and distribution of new capabilities and releases across Workday, Kyriba, Coupa, Workday Adaptive, TM1, and other systems; carry out impact analyses and lead configuration and testing.
  • Promote data quality, standardization, and controls throughout the finance environment; work alongside Risk, Audit, and Compliance teams to meet regulatory, SOX, and internal control requirements.
  • Foster automation and efficiency through the use of technologies including Agentic AI, workflow, RPA, AI and machine learning insights, and advanced analytics to assist decision-making in Finance and the business.
  • Manage vendor and partner engagements across the finance technology stack, encompassing contract discussions, service level agreements, roadmaps, and implementation partners.
  • Deliver clear, timely communication and change management for finance technology initiatives, ensuring adoption by end users and collaborators worldwide.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Shown experience:

  • More than 12 years of progressive experience in Finance Technology / ERP / Treasury / Procurement systems, with substantial participation in complex, global organizations.
  • 7+ years leading multi-platform finance technology with accountability for strategy, roadmap, and delivery.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director / Senior Director) leading cross-functional or global teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale implementations, upgrades, or transformation programs involving Workday Finance.

Finance & technical expertise

  • Good understanding of core finance and accounting principles and processes, including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Revenue, Projects, Consolidation, and Management Reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of Workday Finance setup, data connections, reporting, security, and foundational frameworks (FDM, business processes, security model, integration framework, reporting & analytics).
  • Experience with some of the following systems:
  • Kyriba or similar treasury/cash management platforms.
  • Coupa or similar source-to-pay / procurement solutions.
  • Workday Adaptive and/or TM1 (Planning / EPM / FP&A tools).
  • FIS and other banking, payments, or financial services platforms.
  • PSA platforms (including Workday PSA or comparable professional services automation tools).
    • Solid grasp of integration patterns and technologies (APIs, file-based interfaces, middleware, banking connectivity, tax engines, data lakes/warehouses).
    • Comfort working closely with data and analytics teams to ensure finance data models, important metrics, and dashboards are well-governed and trusted.

Leadership & collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing, diverse, global teams across business and technology skills.
  • Excellent collaborator management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and work together with senior leaders in Finance, Technology, and other corporate functions.
  • Experience managing portfolio prioritization, budgeting, and resource planning across multiple concurrent projects and enhancements.
  • Strong experience in managing vendors and partners, including contract negotiation, monitoring performance, and ensuring partner roadmaps are consistent with company strategy.

Strategic approach & innovation

  • Strategic problem solver who can connect finance technology and data capabilities to business outcomes such as margin improvement, working capital optimization, risk reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience implementing automation, Agentic AI, AI/ML, and advanced analytics in finance processes (e.g., forecasting, cash management, anomaly detection, invoice matching, etc.).
  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed, global environment, balancing standardization with local regulatory and business needs.

Education & credentials

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Professional credentials like CPA, CFA, or comparable experience, and/or certifications in key platforms (e.g., Workday, Kyriba, Coupa, Adaptive, TM1) are highly desirable.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is [ $186900 to $280000] annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
