Who we are looking for:

The Member Services Department is seeking an intern to support our mission of delivering world-class value to the global oncology community. In this role, the intern will assist with data analysis and reporting to better understand member needs, engagement patterns, and renewal behaviors. They will play a key role in developing retention strategies for early-career professionals, enhancing our digital networking platforms, and creating communication plans that recognize and celebrate member milestones.

Internship activities include:

  • Learn about ASCO member and customer audiences to understand their professional needs and how ASCO delivers value through membership in the organization.

  • Identify, synthesize, and document engagement opportunities across the organization, and recommend effective ways to showcase these opportunities to relevant member audiences.

  • Research how members engage with programs, products, and services, and develop reporting and analysis to showcase their findings, including correlation between engagement and renewal trends.

  • Analyze engagement and retention trends among priority audiences such as first-year members, transitioning fellows and residents, and early-career oncologists, and develop recommendations to strengthen early-stage development and long-term retention.

  • Assist with the administration of member engagement programs such as our online professional networking platform, myConnection, including analysis of platform engagement and renewal outcomes.

  • Support the development and documentation of internal processes for the Fellow of ASCO program, including tracking, milestone recognition (25- and 50-point levels), and recommendations to improve member clarity and operational efficiency.

  • Analyze marketing and renewal communication performance across channels to identify high-impact touchpoints and opportunities to optimize the membership lifecycle.

  • Provide general analytical and project support to the membership team.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.

  • An interest in conducting analysis and familiarity with reporting/BI tools such as AWS QuickSight, Adobe Analytics, and Excel-based analysis.

  • Ability to craft a narrative and generate reports and/or presentations about the data to help us understand member engagement

  • Experience conducting research, trend analysis, or basic data evaluation is a plus

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred); and strong proficiency in Excel required

  • Ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs

  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism

  • Willingness to enhance skills

Duration:10weeksduring thesummer - June 8, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This internship is37.5hours per week.

Compensation:Thissummerinternship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location:This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
