Position Summary

Press Operator sets up their work cell and operates transfer presses within the facility to manufacture a variety of high-quality products. Additionally, this individual ensures daily the presses are operating efficiently and makes any necessary adjustments to resolve minor manufacturing difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various presses in multiple machine combinations to produce a variety of products.
  • Ensure presses are operating efficiently.
  • Set controls and make necessary adjustments to ensure production rates are met and/or improved.
  • Install proper accessories in the molds or presses.
  • Operate forklifts and jitneys (up to 25% of the time).
  • Work in warm conditions and around hot equipment. Use pre-heaters/bake ovens (up to 50% of the time).
  • Ability to use hand tools (mill knives, pliers, side cutters, sprue pullers, electric/air grinders, etc.) and measuring/recording accessories (up to 50% of the time).
  • Ability to learn and operate drill presses, grinder wheels, dust collectors, and vacuums.
  • Stand (up to 100% of the time), walk (up to 75% of the time), lift (up to 75% of the time), grasp (up to 75% of the time), reach (up to 50% of the time), twist (up to 25% of the time), bend 90 degrees (up to 20% of the time), sit (up to 10% of the time), climb (up to 10% of the time), and push/pull (up to 10% of the time).
  • Carry/lift materials weighing up to thirty-five pounds (up to 50% of the time) and between 35 and 50 pounds (up to 40% of the time), occasionally carrying/lifting materials weighing over one hundred pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to use day-by-hour sheets and update High Performance Team board.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and/or verbal procedures, processes, and instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand product drawings and basic blueprints.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including the ability to become proficient with Excel and SAP software.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work any shift as well as overtime during the week as needed.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with supervisors, coworkers, and other shifts and/or departments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to complete the job without direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Demonstrated effort toward self-improvement by gaining new knowledge/skills and accepting new assignments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Seven to nine months manufacturing experience.
  • Maintain operator certification to remain in the job.
