Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars. INDUSTRIAL PAINTER (STARSHIP LAUNCH HARDWARE) RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sand blast to acceptable industry standards
- Safely operate spray coating equipment to industrial and commercial standards
- Safely operate air tools, pressure feed tanks, and airless pumps
- Brush and roll industrial and commercial coatings
- Perform corrosion control on carbon steel/ stainless steel using pneumatic air tools, needle guns, and scalers
- Safely operate aerial platforms, forklifts, and heavy equipment
- Operate, clean and maintain all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers and electrostatic sprayers, pumps, etc.
- Work with contractors daily to ensure SpaceX standards are being met
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of industrial painting experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of industrial painting experience and corrosion control experience
- Experience with NACE, MSDS, and EPA regulation codes or industry standards
- Understanding of heavy equipment safety standards
- Familiarity with paint processes and applications
- Ability to follow detailed instructions
- Self-motivated individual able to work independently or in a team environment and willing to learn
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Ability to work the following shift:
- Monday - Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm
- Ability to work nights & weekends when needed to meet critical launch milestones
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) unassisted
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings and climbing hand over hand
- Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 100 feet)
- Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Travel to other sites may be required, up to 15% of the time
