Job Summary

UCSF - ZSFG Trauma Recovery Center-Rape Treatment Center (TRC-RTC) is an award-winning program supporting victim/survivors of interpersonal violence, asylum-seeking refugees, and others overcoming trauma-related barriers to mental health care, medical treatment, and legal resources. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides psychiatric assessments, medication management, and consultation for trauma-related disorders, pre-existing psychiatric conditions, and substance use disorders. The PNP collaborates with therapists, supports MAT, supervises naloxone distribution, and conducts annual de-escalation training. Patients requiring complex care are coordinated with primary care providers. Additional duties include Quality Improvement projects to enhance clinic operations and ensure innovative, high-quality patient care.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $105.50 - $136.83 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The Division of Trauma Recovery Services encompasses four community-based mental health programs - the Child and Adolescent Support Advocacy and Resource Center (CASARC), the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), the Rape Treatment Center, Survivors International (SI), and the Neurotrauma Outreach Program (NTOP) - as well as Zuckerberg San Francisco General's Neuropsychology Service.

Required Qualifications


  • Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master's or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role.
  • Six months or more of working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Preferred Qualifications


  • Possession of a master's degree or higher (e.g. DNSc) in an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Prior related ZSFG experience
  • Prior UCSF or UC experience
  • Bilingual applicant who is able to provide treatment in Spanish

License/Certification


  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner (NP) License without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
  • NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role

  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
