Description

RISE is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis to lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational analysis across our multi-divisional organization specializing in Energy Efficiency, Engineering, Environmental Testing, HVAC, and Design.



This role oversees internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements (IFRS experience a plus), while managing audits, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance.



Partnering closely with executive leadership, business unit leaders, and the Board of Directors, the Director delivers meaningful insights and data-driven recommendations, translating complex financial data into strategies that drive performance and support growth. As a key business partner, this individual promotes efficiency, profitability, and financial discipline while continuously enhancing reporting capabilities and financial processes.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial planning, providing actionable insights to executive leadership and aligning financial strategy with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the preparation and issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP (IFRS experience a plus).
  • Build and maintain robust financial models to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, scenario planning, and operational decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, including revenue, margins, operating expenses, cash flow, and key performance indicators, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Conduct variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget vs. Forecast) and provide clear, data-driven insights to executive leadership, business unit leaders, and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and cross-functional teams to align financial planning with operational goals and drive efficiency, cost control, and profitability.
  • Oversee financial reporting, dashboards, and data visualization tools, ensuring transparency and actionable insights across the organization.
  • Manage and enhance internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and continuous improvement of processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors, coordinating annual audits and quarterly reviews, and ensuring timely and accurate audit deliverables.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, acquisitions), including drafting accounting memos and policies.
  • Partner with the Controller and finance team to optimize ERP systems and reporting tools, driving automation, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and scalable processes to support company growth and evolving business needs.
  • Deliver strategic financial guidance to executive leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term organizational success.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This role will oversee financial reporting and FP&A team members, including staff accountants and analysts, while maintaining hands-on involvement in key deliverables.



Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and/or FP&A, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (IFRS experience a plus).
  • Proven experience in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and operational finance.
  • Experience managing financial systems/ERPs to support reporting, planning, and analytics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex modeling, pivot tables, and large dataset analysis.
  • Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
  • Strong ability to translate complex financial data into strategic business insights.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.



Preferred Experience:



  • Background in public accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience partnering with operations and project-based or construction/contracting teams.
  • Experience with Acumatica or similar ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with employee-owned (ESOP) organizations.
  • Strategic financial leader who influences business decisions and drives performance.
  • Trusted business partner to operational leaders, with a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Data-driven decision-maker who turns insights into action.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and foster collaboration.
  • Experience driving process improvement and systems optimization across finance functions.



Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and regularly uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other business machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, on-site, position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday with specific hours to be mutually agreed upon. Hybrid work options may be available depending on location.

Travel:

There is no expected travel required for this position.
