Senior Safety Program Trainer - NorthStar Clean Energy

The Sr Safety Program Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality instruction as part of a comprehensive safety training program that promote a strong safety culture and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. This role evaluates current site safety practices, standardizes procedures, and creates engaging training modules to enhance workforce safety awareness and performance at natural gas, biomass, wind, and solar sites. The position also supports outage safety initiatives and drives continuous improvement through effective documentation and compliance audits.

Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, presentations, and interactive sessions to convey course content and concepts using effective methodologies and materials to reinforce safe work practices and ensure knowledge retention. Revise and continuously improve lesson plans, curriculum, and instructional materials.
  • Coordinate all aspects of safety training programs including scheduling, resource coordination, budget control, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
  • Partners with on site EHS representatives to document and evaluate current site safety practices, identify improvement opportunities, and implement standardized safety procedures and training modules across all locations
  • Provide outage safety support through orientations, safety presentations, and job-site engagement to reinforce compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Apply PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology and conduct compliance audits to maintain accurate safety documentation and drive continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with the latest educational practices, technology and trends to enhance content creation and learning experiences.
  • Ensure that all employees are trained in a way that promotes company-wide compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:



  • Strong analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NERC, and other applicable safety regulations including emergency response planning and hazard analysis
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in e-learning platforms, instructional design tools, and document management systems
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible mindset and ability to adapt to various environments, learning styles, technologies and teaching methodologies to cater to diverse student needs


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Training & Development, Education, or related field with a minimum of four (4) years' of applicable experience
    [OR] Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Training & Development, Education, or related field with a minimum of six (6) years' of applicable experience
    [OR] High School Diploma with a minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience
  • Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Training & Development, or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred
  • 4+ years of relevant experience is required
  • Lockout/Tag Out, Confined Spaces, Hotwork, HAZWOPER, Fire Extinguisher, CPR/AED Instructor, First Aid, Hoisting & Rigging, Forklift, Aerial lift platform Certifications is preferred
