A self starter with the leadership skills to take charge of plant and maintenance responsibilities while directing a diverse multicultural work force safely and effectively. This is a second/third shift position with variable hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate lunches of employees to ensure proper clock in and out procedures
  • Review documentation in accordance with FSMA regulations
  • Inspect incoming loads and assess risk of potential contaminates
  • Assign work and follow up on job assignments to ensure completion
  • Counsel and discipline employees after normal business hours as needed
  • Monitor employee schedules and coordinate with management to assure that employees are not in unauthorized places
  • Monitor shipments entering and leaving the plant outside of business hours
  • Supervise and train employees on corrective action needed when observed
  • Coordinate with management any issues onsite that are brought forth by personnel
  • Document cleaning and inspection logs outside of business hours
  • Manage call ins and coordinate plant personnel and drivers to cover outside of office hours
  • Perform "walk-arounds" and monitor equipment
  • Observe and document repairs completed during off hours and report them to management
  • Monitor personnel and equipment to ensure that safety procedures are being followed
  • Inspect work and break areas, including; lunchroom, bathrooms, plant, lab, and shop to ensure that employees are not abusing breaks and that the areas are clean
  • Coordinate actions in case of an emergency in accordance with the safety and evacuation plan
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
  • Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time are business needs evolve over time.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior forklift experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a production setting preferred
  • Must be able to climb and not be afraid of heights
  • Must be able to frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 60 pounds
  • Less than 5% travel requirement

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Move and transport materials up to 50-100 lbs with or without specialized lifting, moving and rigging equipment
  • Moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to position self to perform duties around industrial equipment and materials that are hot or hazardous chemical materials

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Ascends/descends heights while maintaining balance
  • Utilizes tools and equipment
  • Remains in a seated position while using multilimb coordination to operate forklift or other mechanical equipment

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Detect and observe conditions that need to be addressed such as equipment that needs to be painted or materials that need to be moved/removed
  • Electronically and manually completes logs/reports
  • Communicates with staff in the process of performing duties
