SUMMARY

The Shipping Clerk is a key member of the Westlake Pipe & Fittings' Distribution Center team, responsible for coordinating the daily movement of products, ensuring timely and accurate shipping processes, and maintaining effective communication with sales, customers, and warehouse personnel. This role is pivotal in upholding our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

This is a full-time permanent position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate daily product movements with sales and customers, confirming product availability and coordinating with the warehouse for orders including fittings.
  • Generate necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, customs paperwork, and proforma invoices.
  • Conduct pre-calls to customers as required to ensure shipment readiness and address any concerns.
  • Perform data entry tasks in AX, JDE, SAP & DSI systems to maintain accurate records of shipping transactions.
  • Manage pick-ups and track Proof of Delivery (POD) to ensure seamless delivery processes.
  • Communicate effectively with customer service via emails and phone calls regarding order status, PO issues, and corrections.
  • Participate in monthly and year-end inventory processes, contributing to accurate inventory management.
  • Train other employees as assigned, ensuring a competent and knowledgeable team.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Warehouse Superintendent or other Senior Management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS BENEFITS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a shipping/receiving or logistics role preferred.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP software is an asset.
  • Experience as a Shipping Loader Operator, or equivalent, and has demonstrated a good working knowledge of safe and efficient truck-loading procedures is an asset.
  • Exposure to ERP systems requiring handheld picking.
  • Experience driving PIV (Power Industrial Vehicle) and MHE, sit-downs, reach lifts, pallet riders.
  • Proficient in English. Intermediate ability to read and interpret text.
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 Ibs.
  • Demonstrated a good working knowledge of safe and efficient truck-loading procedures is an asset.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and appropriate forklift certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, push, bend, twist or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate as this position is based in the warehouse and outdoors. The work is required in the operation of forklifts and other machinery including but not limited to cut-off saws, shrink-wrappers and others which require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs.
