What to Expect
The Civil Quality Control Lead Inspector will proactively support the Quality Control Manger in guaranteeing that all civil-related quality-control activities (e.g., earthwork, foundations, roads, etc.) conform to engineering designs, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with multiple functional teams to ensure safe, high quality piping installations. It demands solid technical judgment and creative problem-solving skills to backstop field operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop, review, and execute project-specific civil QC plans, inspection and test plans, prepare inspection reports, and create weekly reports
- Schedule and oversee field and lab testing (e.g., compaction, concrete strength, etc.) while ensuring calibrated equipment and qualified labs are utilized
- Perform surveillance and inspections of civil works-including earth- earthmoving, foundations, utilities, paving, and site installations-ensuring every activity complies with the engineered design documents and approved construction procedures
- Types of activities include witnessing density testing, verification of compaction reports, verifying correct fill lifts, survey elevation verification, inspections of reinforcing steel, formwork, witnessing slump tests, verifying barrel turns
- Interpret design drawings and specifications and implement procedures for inspection activities
- Inspects and documents acceptance of construction activities and installations and identifies conditions that are nonconforming while monitoring corrective actions through closure
- Make sure all work being performed adheres to the approved (ITP's) Inspection test plans. Help maintain a database through established project standard computer applications
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 5 years' hands on experience as a civil quality control inspector on largescale industrial projects, including oil and gas facilities and complex chemical plant construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical documents, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and apply corrective-action procedures to resolve non-conforming conditions
- Possesses solid knowledge of the regulatory requirements that drive the quality program and is familiar with key construction codes (e.g., ACI, ASME)
- Possesses a broad understanding of quality-management principles and can apply them across the full project life-cycle-including engineering, environmental compliance, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning
- Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
