What to Expect
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead, support, and manage a team of supervisors, technicians, and associates in a fast-paced cell manufacturing environment. The successful candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership capabilities that can manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. This leader will build a team that can work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments in leading Non-Conforming Material initiatives focused on battery cell production.
What You'll Do
- Align projects to drive department goals by managing operations and driving metrics in critical areas of the cell manufacturing floor from electrode mixing through module stack operations
- Drive continuous improvement and optimization via FPY yield improvement projects, defect reduction in cell production, and excursion root cause analysis specific to cell-level anomalies
- Develop training programs and hiring plans for NCM team members, emphasizing cell manufacturing safety and precision
- Ability to mentor and developa strong teamthrough selective recruitment, thorough and consistent on-boarding process, training, and coaching, and identification and addressing of competency gaps within team
- Empower the NCM team to collaborate with engineering to improve cell manufacturability and line productivity
- Develop &maintainStandardized Manufacturing Instructions used in inspection and remediation by the NCM team members
- Tesla people leadersare responsible fora variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams' safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas (e.g., chemical handling in cell production), and empowering others to continuously improve operations
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience managing teams of people in a high-volume cell or precision manufacturing setting
- Strong organization and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail tomaintainteam accountability
- Proficient in lean manufacturing methodologies and leadership, with familiarity in cell production processes
- Data collection and analysis experience, including cell defect tracking and yield optimization
- Strong analytical capability and familiarity with analytical and statistical software systems
- Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs) tailored to cell manufacturing
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
