This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will oversee the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of transforming the way rockets are made and operated.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:Supervise, mentor, and develop avionics integration technicians and engineers, managing workloads, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering technical expertise
  • Integration Management:Oversee the installation, integration, and testing of avionics systems including communication, navigation, surveillance, flight control, and mission systems
  • Technical Problem Resolution:Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex avionics integration challenges, developing innovative solutions while maintaining schedule adherence
  • Project Coordination:Plan and manage avionics integration activities across multiple projects, coordinating resources, timelines, and interdependencies with other engineering disciplines
  • Quality Assurance:Ensure all integration activities comply with DO-178, DO-254, and other applicable aviation standards while maintaining comprehensive documentation and traceability
  • Process Improvement:Identify opportunities to optimize integration procedures, test methodologies, and validation processes to enhance efficiency and product quality
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with Systems Engineering, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Flight Test teams to resolve interface issues and ensure system-level performance
  • Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all avionics integration activities adhere to FAA, EASA, or other relevant regulatory requirements for certification and airworthiness

Qualifications:

  • Direct/Indirect leadership experience, working aerospace development programs or production lines.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
  • Work at heights on work stands and in lifts.
  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances
  • A continuous improvement mindset. Our job is never complete; we are always optimizing.
  • Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight

Desired:

  • 5+ years in a direct/indirect supervision position, working on aerospace development programs or production lines.
  • Broad/deep scheduling and planning skillset
  • Project planning and Integrated Master Schedules
  • Proficiency with resource loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software
  • Experienced in handling large aerospace components
  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Military experience

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
