Position: NVH Test Engineer (Vehicle Acoustics)

Location: Newark, CA

Pay: $50-$57/hr

We are seeking a skilled NVH Test Engineer to support vehicle development by evaluating and optimizing Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) performance. In this role, you will conduct testing, analyze acoustic data, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve vehicle sound quality while balancing mass, packaging, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and execute NVH test procedures to evaluate in-vehicle acoustic and vibration performance.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret NVH data to guide engineering design decisions.
  • Conduct vehicle-level and component-level testing to improve airborne and structure-borne noise.
  • Perform modal testing, order analysis, and acoustic performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Vehicle Integration, Body, Chassis, and Thermal Engineering to improve NVH performance.
  • Support vehicle-level NVH targets and performance tracking throughout development.
  • Utilize advanced measurement tools including accelerometers, microphones, and NVH data acquisition systems.
  • Document test results and provide technical recommendations to improve vehicle sound quality.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred).
  • 2-6+ years of experience in NVH testing, acoustics, or vibration analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of structural dynamics, acoustics, and digital signal processing.
  • Experience using NVH testing tools and software such as Siemens TestLab or Artemis Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.



Preferred Experience:



  • Vehicle development from concept through production.
  • NVH characterization using acoustic cameras, particle velocity probes, or advanced microphones.
  • Experience with road and tire noise, buzz/squeak/rattle (BSR), and operational sound quality (OSQ) testing.
