Overview:

We are seeking anElectrical CADDDesignerIIIwho will focus onproducing designs, and engineering drawings using computer-aided design (MicroStation/AutoCAD) packages for modifications to reactor systems, support systems, cryogenic cold source systems, and provides technical support for related maintenance activities.

This positionresidesin theSystems Engineering Groupin theResearch Reactors Division,Neutron Sciences DirectorateatOak Ridge National Laboratory(ORNL). The Systems EngineeringGroupis responsible forthe High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) configuration management program, provides technical support to operations and maintenance, and performs systems analysis.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Createsnew designsand revises designs for reactor electrical related equipment.

  • Prepares engineering drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD.

  • Identifiesand resolves electrical problems with system engineers.

  • Assists Design Basis Group lead with group level tasks.

  • Produces wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical installationdrawingsand specifications.

  • Prepares clear, complete, andaccurateworking plans and detail drawings from layouts, rough or detailed sketches, electronic databases, or written or verbal instructions.

  • Meets milestones set by RRD managemente.g.budget and schedule.

  • Works with Design Basis Group lead to ensureaccurate,timely, and professional designs and drawings.

  • Ensures compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements including ISMS.

  • Maintains a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of professional values and ethics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • AnASdegree in an engineering related field with aminimum of5yearsof experience inand drafting support of complex multi-discipline systems;oran equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiencyin AutoCAD or MicroStation software.

  • Ability to produce electrical design drawings and manipulate scanned images.

  • Working knowledge of the following:

  • Electrical control and protection devices and their circuitry

  • National Electrical Code (NEC) symbols and nomenclature used in schematics, plans, substructure maps, specifications, wiring diagrams, and electrical design drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience workingin a nuclear reactor environment.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires access to technology that is subject to export control requirements. Successful candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license.

  • This position requires Rad Worker II.
