Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Bryan School Dean's Office provides overall business management to six academic departments, programs, and supporting offices.

Position Summary
The Business Officer position is responsible for oversight of financial processes (operational) within the Bryan School Dean's Office. The employee will track and report on the School's financial assets and exercise leadership with regards to the expenditure and reconciliation of funds (purchasing and accounts payable processes). In addition to staying apprised of university financial procedures, the employee will serve as a resource to department/program admins and supervise one SHRA employee.

For success in this position, the individual will need strong analytical skills, comfort using data platforms, and a high degree of accuracy/attention to detail. Ability to synthesize information to understand unit operations and priorities is critical. As this is a team-oriented role, individual must be able to work well with others and provide excellent 'customer' service whether interacting with internal constituents or external vendors. Being able to self-initiate activities, including independently monitoring deadlines and task completion are central to this role.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus one year of related experience -OR- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth experience utilizing QuickBooks for bookkeeping operations.
  • Familiarity with Banner, Chrome River (Emburse Enterprise), Excel, and other Microsoft productivity tools.
  • Experience in financial processing within a state/government organization. This includes navigating federal or state-level policies regarding the allowable use of funds by source.
  • Team-oriented individual with the willingness to take on new tasks to sustain operations, as needed.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Background in higher education would be considered positively.
