Job Summary
Provide professional services in support of unit management in field as specified in the particular job posting. Focus will be in a professional field such as Communications, Marketing, Customer Service, Academic Administration, Event Management, Procurement, etc. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Perform duties related to professional field assignment.
Job Duty 2 - Participate in reviews for compliance with policy and governmental regulations in the field.
Job Duty 3 - Provide input to department policies and procedures.
Job Duty 4 - May provide input to and administer project timelines and budgets.
Job Duty 5 - May interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues.
Job Duty 6 - Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications Position requires the ability to pass a drug/alcohol pre-screening; may require working competently with dangerous materials and in a dangerous environment, such as around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and bot surfaces. In addition, it may require lifting heavy objects of up to 75 pounds, and working in confined spaces, noisy environments, and elevated locations (such as climbing extension ladder and other types of ladders; or using scaffolding) either inside or outside of a building. During adverse weather, activities may require extensive after hours work or callback. This job may require wearing a full-face respirator in accordance with Georgia Tech campus policies and procedures. This job will require some evening hours and hours during peak times, as well as being a part of an on-duty rotation.
Required Experience Up to two years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 20+ years of progressively responsible leadership in higher education administration, research operations, strategic consulting, financial management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex organizations or operational units with multidisciplinary teams. Proven skill in leading through ambiguity, cultural resistance, and organizational change.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and elevate staff, including building cohesive leadership teams and fostering high-performance, people-centered cultures.
- Experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior executives.
- Extensive experience driving large-scale, cross-functional, and enterprise-wide initiatives, translating institutional priorities into actionable operational strategies
- Demonstrated ability to redesign business processes, implement operational efficiencies, and apply change methodologies.
- Advanced financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital-planning expertise, with the ability to manage or advise on multi-year financial models, costshare strategies, and capital project portfolios.
- Experience aligning financial decisions with institutional priorities using tools such as business cases, pro forma analyses, multi-scenario planning, and enterprise metrics.
- Familiarity with sponsored programs administration and compliance.
- Understanding of research facility management, including space planning, utilization analytics, renovation/fit-up governance, and capital project planning.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence, facilitate difficult discussions, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders. Highly collaborative, enterprise-minded, and skilled at balancing strategic vision with operational execution
- Advanced degree required (MBA or related field strongly preferred).
- Additional executive education or leadership-development training is a plus.
