Title: Category Business Manager
Location: Clayton, MO
Additional locations include: East Alton, IL, Oxford, MS, or Bentonville, AR

Salary: $90,000 - $124,900 (depending on related experience)
Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday

Focus: Utilize analytics platforms, analyze sales, inventory, and Mass Merchant & Retail Chain point-of-sale (POS) data at the stock keeping unit (SKU) level across key accounts to generate accurate replenishment orders under a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) program.

Category Business Manager Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute category growth strategies for assigned product segments and retail partners, identifying opportunities to expand category sales, improve assortment effectiveness, and strengthen Winchester's market presence.
  • Partner with key retail customers and internal sales teams to develop category business plans, including assortment optimization, promotional strategies, and seasonal planning to drive category performance and revenue growth.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for stock keeping unit (SKU) assortment, product placement, and new product introductions, leveraging consumer insights, retail POS data, and category trends.
  • Lead category performance reviews with key retail partners, presenting insights, trends, and strategic recommendations to improve category growth, inventory productivity, and market share.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly POS performance for large retail chains and mass merchants, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities while delivering actionable insights.
  • Analyze sales, inventory, and Mass Merchant/Retail Chain point-of-sale (POS) data at the SKU level across key accounts to generate accurate replenishment orders within vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs using platforms such as Scintilla, Supplier One, and PowerBI.
  • Develop demand forecasts using historical POS data, seasonal buying patterns, promotional calendars, and market analytics tools to support production planning, inventory optimization, and improved service levels.
  • Utilize analytics platforms including SPS Commerce, Scope, SAP Business Intelligence (BI), and related systems to develop data-driven recommendations supporting seasonal programs, promotional activity, and customer-specific growth initiatives.
  • Serve as a category analytics and insights resource for cross-functional teams, collaborating with sales, marketing, product management, and supply chain to align category strategy with product launches, promotional campaigns, and production planning.
  • Integrate Microsoft Copilot, Salesforce.com, and other artificial intelligence tools into analytics, demand planning, and forecasting processes to improve speed, accuracy, and insight generation.

Category Business Manager Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree*; Business, Marketing, or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum five years of related Analytics, Marketing, Sales, or Customer Services experience.
  • Solid knowledge of the shooting sports category, emphasizing ammunition products preferred.
  • Knowledge of Winchester symbols, products, programs, pricing, and policies preferred.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of export regulations preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to balance multiple tasks/deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Superior organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume workload, shift demands, and willingness to be collaborative and support team efforts.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Occasional travel required.

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
