What your job will be like:

The incumbent will assist in the JLab superconducting digital logic program and particularly focus on the characterization of NbTiN layers and devices generated within the collaboration. Take part in optimization of deposition processes for NbTiN layers and establishinq the upcoming dilution fridge facility. Responsible for developing and optimizing methods to characterize devices and demonstrator circuits based on NbTiN wires to develop and inform failure mode analysis models at the unit process and integration levels. Also work closely with the principal investigator, staff and graduate students to conduct characterization and RF evaluation at cryogenic temperatures of relevant superconducting structures coated as resonators and to write reports in the form of technical notes, conference proceedings and/or peer reviewed journals.

In this job you will:
  • Assist in deposition of NbTiN thin film and structures via energetic condensation, characterize samples and devices using microscopes, physical property system and magnetometry setups, and prepare and mount samples for these experiments.
  • Participate in analyzing the microstructure and properties of superconducting films, structures and devices generated within the SRF S&T Department
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of an upcoming dilution fridge. Develop related experiment setups.
  • Determine solutions to technical problems by reviewing scientific and technical literature and simulation methodologies as well as designing and executing experiments to support research. Conduct, analyze, and present data. Make comparisons with complemen
