Starting Base Salary Range of $90,000 to $110,000 (DOE)

What You'll Be Doing as a Commodity Manager:

Through collaboration with Leupold & Stevens team members and partnership with our suppliers, our Commodity Managers serve as strategic leaders who ensure the strength, stability, and innovation of our supply chain. They play a critical role in bringing new products to market and sustaining Leupold & Stevens' position as the dominant performance optics brand.

This position requires someone who thrives on challenge, builds trust through expertise and follow-through, and can think strategically while acting decisively. Our Commodity Managers don't just manage suppliers-they cultivate partnerships that drive performance, quality, and growth. They anticipate risks, uncover opportunities, and champion solutions that ensure we deliver on our promise of relentless performance-both in the field and in the factory.

In addition, independently perform tasks such as:

Leadership:

• Continuously challenge and encourage yourself, the organization and those around you to overcome obstacles and make improvements.
• Provide mentorship and support to others.

Relationships:

• Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers to ensure stability and value creation.
• Provide the connection between suppliers and team members to support ongoing production, new product development and continuous improvement.
• Involve appropriate team members from throughout the company to help select, qualify, develop, and improve suppliers.

Risk:

• Monitor global market trends, geopolitical factors, and industry developments to inform sourcing decisions.
• Develop plans to mitigate risks to quality, delivery, and cost within the supply chain.

Quality:

• Facilitate discussions between suppliers and team members to ensure engineering requirements are understood and can be achieved.
• Coordinate the resolution to supplier related quality issues ensuring corrective action is implemented.

Delivery:

• Create and coordinate inbound supply chain and logistic programs. Examples can include JIT system, Lean modules, Point of Use, and Kanban programs.

Cost:

• Negotiate quality, delivery, price, inventory, and payment terms with our suppliers.
• Develop total cost models to assess supplier proposals and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate and maintain Warranty/Repair policies with suppliers.

Contracts:

• Manage the entire contract lifecycle, from negotiation to renewal and termination of supplier agreements.
• Establish blanket purchase orders with strategic suppliers that balance favorable costs and delivery with overall cost and inventory commitments.

System Settings:

• Create and maintain master production schedule for assigned commodities as needed.
• Establish and maintain procurement/supplier data within ERP system.
• Establish Planner Codes, ABC Levels and appropriate MRP parameters for assigned items.

Performance Evaluation:

• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.

Continuous Improvement:

• Work with suppliers and team members to improve performance.
• Initiate the search for, and onboarding of alternative suppliers as needed.
• Continually keep abreast of developments that influence procurement procedures and practices, both in general and in the assigned commodities.
• Collaborate with key suppliers to drive continuous improvement and innovation within commodity categories.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure our US Customs Duty Assist responsibilities are met and that suppliers provide information supportive of relevant regulations (e.g., REACH, RoHS, Prop 65).

Skills and Experience You'll Need as a Commodity Manager:

• Four-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain Management Engineering, or other comparable field of study. A Master's degree or an MBA with a focus on supply chain or procurement preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years purchasing or commodity experience in a complex manufacturing supply management environment.
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• ISM or APICS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with negotiation of contracts and pricing, knowledgeable on inventory control and stocking methods (Lean/Demand Flow experience desired), and capable of creating documentation procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of business suite software (office applications). Experience with advanced ERP software (Oracle) preferred.
• Proven interpersonal skills in dealing with internal customers and suppliers.

Work Environment for a Commodity Manager:

Work is performed in a normal office environment with exposure to the manufacturing environment.
