OVERVIEW:

The Director of Marketing & Communications leads comprehensive communications, branding, and strategic messaging for Kent Denver School. This role ensures clarity, consistency, and mission alignment across all internal and external communications.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop and implement a school-wide communications strategy that strengthens the Kent Denver brand, supports mission-driven storytelling, and ensures consistent, high-quality messaging.

  • Content Creation & Messaging: Produce and oversee written, digital, and visual content, including newsletters, publications, website updates, and social media, to inform, engage, and inspire students, families, alumni, faculty/staff and donors. Explore and implement emerging technologies, including AI, where appropriate.

  • Internal & External Communications: Ensure timely, accurate, and accessible communication to all school stakeholders; manage school-wide announcements, crisis communications, and family messaging with professionalism and clarity.

  • Brand Management & Marketing: Protect and enhance the Kent Denver brand across materials, platforms, and events; partner with Admissions, Development and Summer at Kent Denver to support marketing campaigns and recruitment initiatives.

  • Media Relations & Storytelling: Serve as the primary point of contact for media requests; highlight school achievements, student stories, and institutional successes to strengthen visibility and reputation.

  • Leadership Collaboration: Advise the Head of School and senior admin team on communication strategy; support departments and programs with communication planning and design guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience


  • Leadership experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, ideally in an independent school or other nonprofit

Competencies


  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and the ability to communicate with professionalism and discretion

  • Strong strategic and project management abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity for teamwork, flexibility, and collaborative engagement across multiple departments and constituencies.

  • Commitment to the mission, values, and identity of Kent Denver School; alignment with independent school philosophy

$115,000 - $145,000
