Inova Professional Services Building - Surgery Center (PSB) is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for an OR Services Leader opening. This role will support the Ophthalmology service line. Eligible Nurses will qualify for sign-on & relocation bonuses. Work Schedule: Full time, Days (Four 10hr shifts). The surgery center staff do not work nights, weekends, holidays, or take call. The PSB is a state of the art, 8 Operating Room Outpatient Surgery Center that serves the communities of Sports Medicine, Podiatry, Orthopedic, Laparoscopic, General, Breast with Reconstruction, Melanoma, Thyroidectomy, and other general surgery patients. This outpatient surgery center is located on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. OR Services Leader Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of OR nursing experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree Nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree Nursing, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date
- License: Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
- Certification: Basic Life Support with American Heart Association. CNOR or equivalent specialty certification within 12 months of hire.
OR Services Leader Preferred Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of RN experience with the Ophthalmology service line
- Scrubbing experience
OR Services Leader Responsibilities:
- Ensures the effective and efficient functioning of the unit and the achievement of optimal patient outcomes. Delivers safe, high quality and cost-effective preoperative services. Demonstrates an integrated approach toward case/patient outcomes.
- Identifies strategies for cost-effective and efficient practices without compromising preoperative patient safety or outcomes. Promotes creative thinking among staff, peers and colleagues to develop new and innovative devices, practices and strategies to advance and improve preoperative nursing services.
- Serves as primary liaison, clinical lead and resource for the assigned surgical specialty and/or unit while ensuring unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements and the Joint Commission standards.
- Adheres to all Inova Health System's policies and procedures while coaching staff on compliance and consistently identifying clinical and operational variables affecting patient and case outcomes. Makes clinical decisions based on education and experience while integrating varied patient experiences into clinical decision-making. Mentors team members in identifying intra-operative outcomes.
- Ensures practice improvements by serving as role model, providing direction and providing guidance to others regarding preoperative services and specialty.
