About the Location - Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Cape Canaveral Space Force Station sits at the heart of Florida's Space Coast and is a critical hub for national security, aerospace, and space launch operations. Working primarily on site, this role supports mission-critical programs in a highly technical, secure environment where precision, coordination, and schedule certainty are essential. The surrounding Space Coast area offers a strong engineering and defense presence, coastal living, and proximity to Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, and the broader Central Florida region.

SUMMARY:

The General Superintendent provides overall leadership and direction for all field operations across the company's construction projects. This role ensures projects are built safely on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The General Superintendent works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Field Operations Leadership



  • Oversee all field construction activities and personnel for multiple job sites.


  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate project superintendents to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company standards.


  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency across projects.


Safety & Compliance



  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety programs.


  • Conduct regular job site visits, inspections, and safety meetings.


Scheduling & Productivity



  • Work with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules.


  • Identify potential delays early and implement solutions to keep projects on track.


  • Monitor field productivity and adjust workflows for optimal results.


Quality Assurance



  • Ensure construction work meets contract specifications, building codes, and company quality standards.


  • Resolve field conflicts and technical challenges promptly.


Communication & Coordination



  • Serve as the main link between the field and office, providing accurate and timely updates to leadership.


  • Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • 10+ years of commercial, industrial, or civil construction experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.


  • Proven track record managing multiple large-scale construction projects.


  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards.


  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, MS Project, etc.).


  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.


  • Proficiency in Procore is preferred.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must have good human relations skills, including the ability to effectively direct and relate to other people positively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to navigate and move around the construction site, which may involve walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and standing for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle tools, equipment, and perform tasks that require coordination and manual skills.
  • Manual dexterity, hearing, mental acuity, typing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed two hours consecutively.
  • Ability to print and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols that are legible and understood by others.
  • Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
  • Ability to control behavior when encountering stressful situations or short deadlines and to maintain a high level of concentration.
  • Quick thinking and decision-making ability to address issues and challenges that may arise during construction.
  • Endurance to work in various weather conditions and handle the physical demands of supervising a construction project.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety standards on the construction site.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements when on the construction site, such as hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.
