Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
This is a new position created to support the launch of the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice on UNCG's Millennial Campus in 2026. As a technology-rich, multi-use facility integrating virtual production, immersive learning, performance, and creative research, the JTCCP requires dedicated leadership to oversee technical operations, building systems, user support, and cross-campus coordination.

This position establishes core operational infrastructure for the JTCCP and will serve as a key member of its inaugural leadership team. This position ensures the stability, security, and performance of all technical infrastructure; provides training, production support, and technical guidance for university and community users; manages relationships with external technology vendors and service providers; and directs facility operations including scheduling, space rentals, and safety procedures. This position provides occasional support to technology-driven projects at the Weatherspoon Art Museum ( WAM) and/or partnerships between the JTCCP and WAM.
Position Summary
The Technology and Operations Lead is responsible for managing all specialized building operations, technical systems, and event production within the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice. The center includes a flexible black box theater, LED volume, three creative studios, a maker space with podcast rooms, and meeting spaces that support transdisciplinary instruction, research, and community work. The role serves as the primary liaison to UNCG's Information Technology Services, Parking Services, Campus Security, and Facilities Operations. This position occasionally supports technology-driven projects at the Weatherspoon Art Museum and assists in partnerships between the two facilities as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications

Work in this class involves the operation of vehicles and/or equipment in support of State agencies and universities. Employees may operate a variety of vehicles/equipment in the performance of daily tasks, or may specialize in the operation of specific types of vehicles/equipment. Program areas supported may include but are not limited to public transportation, grounds maintenance, transportation of juvenile offenders, solid waste hauling, mail transport, cargo transport, forest fire fighting, reforestation, and hydrogeological drilling. Employees may supervise temporaries or court-secured individuals in the performance of tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Advanced training or certifications in technical production, immersive technology, AV systems, virtual production, LED volume operation, or related fields preferred.


Professional Skills and Experience:

  • Five years of experience in technical operations, event production, or facility management in a creative, performance, media, or academic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex AV systems, lighting, audio, projection, digital media, and/or immersive or real-time rendering technologies.
  • Experience training and supervising student, part-time, or technical staff.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently under multiple deadlines and manage simultaneous projects across diverse user groups.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and industry best practices for technical production, makerspaces, and creative facilities.
  • Experience with vendor contracts, service agreements, or technology procurement is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations.
