Ingram Industries is seeking a Payroll Accountant to work in our LaVergne, TN office. This position will ensure payroll tax compliance for federal, multi-state, and local regulations for Ingram Distribution Management, LLC and Ingram Marine Management Co. LLC. This position will also support the payroll general ledger accounting activities along with special assignments.

What you will be doing:

  • Preparing assigned federal, state, and local tax returns and payment of taxes (filing frequencies: biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually), submitting paper returns and electronic returns, and ensuring deadlines are met and no penalties are incurred. With the guidance of the Intermediate Payroll Accountant, responding accordingly to state and local tax notices and inquiries.
  • Preparing various monthly payroll account reconciliations; preparing journal entries and submitting to Intermediate Payroll Accountant for review and approval; updating PeopleSoft Financial System with approved journal entries.
  • For each payroll, process company expenses and liabilities charging client sweep accounts. Communicating with detailed back up, those charges to clients.
  • Preparing and/or verifying weekly W2 audit to assure year-to-date wages and taxes are in balance.
  • Keeping track of any additions or omissions from the tax summary each month and quarter to ensure state and local tax filings are kept current and accurate.
  • Completing PeopleSoft set up as directed to add/modify departments, GL set up and state/local tax set up.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation; submitting to Intermediate Payroll Accountant for review.
  • Preparing quarterly worksheet listing, State Unemployment Insurance tax payments, and submitting to tax service provider after the close of each quarter filing period.
  • Preparing AP vendor set-up in PeopleSoft Financial System; updating changes to existing vendors on a timely basis.
  • Assisting Intermediate Payroll Accountant with setting up of Payroll Calendars in PeopleSoft.
  • With the assistance of the Intermediate Payroll Accountant, responding to requests and inquiries from clients and the Accounting department.
  • Preparing monthly salary and hourly accrual as directed.
  • At the request of the Intermediate Payroll Accountant, process queries in PeopleSoft to ensure State Unemployment Tax rates are current and accurate.
  • Assisting with annual Earned Income Credit (EIC) reporting.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Accounting or experience at the equivalent level.
  • 1-3 years' experience preferred.
  • Tax return preparation experience and account reconciliation experience preferred.
  • Basic payroll knowledge is a plus.

Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency required.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines and prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to work in team-oriented setting.
  • PeopleSoft Financial System experience preferred.
  • Ability to research tax payments regarding deposits applied incorrectly by the state or local and communicate resolution to supervisor.
  • Ability to receive requestfor a new vendor; research for accuracy and verify request is not a duplicate, set-up and obtain supervisor approval.
  • Ability to research discrepancies when reconciling accounts to determine whether tax payments and/or journal entries are needed
