| Essential Job Duties |
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in identifying, recruiting and enrolling a new academically strong student class each academic year. This position provides leadership, supervises recruitment staff and directly supports outreach and engagement efforts that advance enrollment goals. |
| Other Responsibilities |
Recruitment and outreach (45%)
- Represent NC State to prospective students, parents and counselors through high school visits, college fairs, receptions and related events.
- Plan and coordinate recruitment events and programs, including extensive in-state and out-of-state travel, public speaking and occasional evening and weekend work.
- Counsel prospective students and families via phone, email and in-person communication regarding academic programs, admissions standards, policies and procedures.
- Conduct information sessions on campus for prospective students and their parents.
Strategic leadership and project management (40%)
- Manage major admissions projects as assigned, including attending meetings with university faculty and various university committees to represent Undergraduate Admissions.
- Oversee Undergraduate Admissions' outreach efforts in collaboration with various colleges and departments.
- Serve as a leader within the Undergraduate Admissions team and ensure we have appropriate office coverage for information sessions, phone inquiries and our main email account response.
- Serve on our training and development team to ensure all new hires in Undergraduate Admissions are well trained, coached and utilizing best practices of recruitment and customer service.
Supervision and team development (15%)
- Supervise full-time admissions counselors and student employees.
- Coach and develop staff to ensure they are well positioned to recruit and enroll students effectively.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.

| Other Required Qualifications |
- Ability to exercise judgment and work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a team member.
- Strong organization and time management skills to ensure scheduled deadlines are met.
- Computer proficiency - must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized management information systems (databases).
- Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or administrative policies and procedures.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters.
- Work requires in-depth analysis and counseling skills along with independent judgment and discretion to render appropriate admissions decisions in an increasingly competitive market.
- Flexibility to travel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs on occasion.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in a university work setting.
- Three years admissions experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field preferred.
