| Position Description: |
The Obal Lab in the University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join a research program focused on advancing our understanding of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in cardiovascular disease. The lab uses patientderived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from healthy individuals and patients with cardiovascular conditions to study GPCR function, singlemolecule movement, and receptor-protein interactions within the cell membrane. These investigations aim to reveal how receptor behavior changes in chronic diseases such as heart failure and ischemic cardiomyopathy, ultimately supporting the development of targeted therapeutics and precision medicines. Through a collaboration with the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, the lab has access to one of the largest iPSC biobanks in the country, enabling studies across diverse cardiovascular genotypes. A key component of this role includes applying advanced nanoparticle technology to track single GPCR molecules in cardiomyocytes and other cardiovascular cell types. |
