Position Summary

Trideum is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Linux System Administrator to join our team at our Huntsville, AL headquarters to support critical infrastructure. The Linux Systems Administrator will support essential infrastructure by managing and maintaining Linux-based systems to ensure high availability, security, and reliability

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support automation efforts, monitoring, and performance optimization. This position requires strong hands-on experience with Linux environments, system management, security, troubleshooting, and cloud technologies.

This role includes deploying, securing, and optimizing Linux servers and services; enforcing configuration and patch management standards; and ensuring compliance with internal IT and cybersecurity requirements. You will engage regularly with IT operations, networking, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams to maintain a stable enterprise environment.

What You'll Do



  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Linux environments across physical and virtual platforms.
  • Install, configure, and support Linux servers (RHEL, Ubuntu, etc).
  • Manage updates, patches, vulnerability remediation, and automated maintenance workflows using approved tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Landscape, and similar platforms.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, applying tuning and optimization as needed.
  • Configure and maintain key system services including SELinux (policy tuning and enforcement), FIPS 140-2/3 compliant configurations, Application Managers, USB policies, FA policy and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application issues-including those without existing documentation.
  • Implement and maintain secure system configurations aligned with CIS benchmarks, NIST 800-series controls, and DISA STIGs.
  • Support automation efforts using Bash, Python, Ansible, or comparable tools.
  • Manage identity, access control, and privileged accounts with Entra ID, and Multi-Factor Authentication like Duo/YubiKey.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and change history.
  • Collaborate with network, Windows, and cybersecurity teams for cross platform support.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation workflows.
  • Assist with planning and executing upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.


Requirements & Qualifications

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience and industry certifications will be considered.


Technical Requirements



  • Strong understanding of Linux internals, file system management, networking fundamentals, and security principles.
  • Experience with package management and kernel updates.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of CMMC, NIST and CIS Benchmarks.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting SELinux.
  • Experience implementing and validating systems for FIPS 140-2/3 compliance.


Experience



  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience supporting Linux environments.


Certifications

Preferred certifications include:



  • CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Security+


Skills



  • Strong CLI experience.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with configuration management or orchestration tools.
  • Ability to support environments with both Windows Server and Linux Servers and Endpoints.
  • Experience working in compliance driven environments implementing Access controls, SELinux, and FIPS 140-2/3.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for assisting non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
