Position Purpose
To provide financial and administrative management and analysis for several complex operating and project budgets, including multiple funding sources, multi-site research projects, or program projects. Applies a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of financial and grants management in the accomplishment of financial and administrative activities.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in accounting, budget, or grant management.
  • Excellent accounting, management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, and other computer software.
  • Experience required to manage complex research projects financially.
  • Work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team, and be flexible and open to change.
  • Plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Exercise judgment, initiative, and interact with faculty, personnel, and outside agencies professionally.
  • Maintain and foster confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to create advanced Excel spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting and grants management in an educational and/or research setting.
  • Familiarity with Dartmouth College or similar higher education systems and procedures.

Description
Support investigators in preparing proposals to funding sources, including the development of complex budgets for large proposal submissions and ensuring the completion of all sponsor and College administrative requirements.

Develops, justifies, and administers budgets for grants, sub-contracts, service centers, reserves, and operating budgets.

Description
Monitors expenses and revenues for accounts, ensuring costs are properly allocated, anticipating fluctuations in funding, and providing regular status updates on actual and projected expenditures.

Description
Independently advises investigators on regulatory, compliance, and sponsor requirements and proposes recommendations to respond to anticipated funding fluctuations.

Description
Monitors payroll funding levels, preparing and processing FTE distributions based on budgets, maintaining projections on personnel support, and communicating in advance of potential funding shortfalls.

Description
Ensures compliance with Dartmouth College and granting agency policies, interpreting policies in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Projects and Geisel Medical School.

Description
Interacts with representatives of Dartmouth College, Geisel, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, other academic institutions, and funding agencies to provide information requested, seek clarification of requirements, and collaborate on financial issues.
