Mechanic Class A - Multiskilled - Carpenter - 1st Shift

Job Summary

Drexel University Facilities Management Department is seeking a qualified candidate to be responsible for carpentry / multi-skilled maintenance.

The schedule for this position is 1st shift - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Essential Functions

• Perform multi-skilled work issued through a work order system focusing on restroom maintenance and renovations and occasionally support outstanding/critical campus-wide work orders. The job requires an employee who can perform with minimum supervision and take the initiative to complete the assignment.
• Respond to service calls for general building maintenance items campus-wide, including work in classrooms, restrooms, residence halls, athletic facilities, and outdoor work. Calls will include repair requests for doors, windows, roofs, electrical, plumbing, furnishings, locks, safety protection, and other items as required.
• Support campus events with set-ups which include the installation of banners, signs, risers, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, including competence in:
  
  
  
  • Replacement of ballast, bulbs, light fixtures, flushometers, faucets, and related parts.
  • Repair of doors and associated hardware, suspended ceiling systems, restroom partitions, flooring, and cabinetry & countertop unit installation.
  
  
  
  
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of journeyman-level skills in either electrical or plumbing with an emphasis on multi-skilled abilities in all trades.
• Ability to perform with minimum supervision and takes the initiative to complete assignments.

Additional Information

This is a Full-Time Union position classified as Non-Exempt. Benefits and compensation are based on the agreed Collective Bargaining Agreement for this position.
