What you'll do

Viasat is seeking a highly motivated Project Planner to play a key role in translating ideas into action by meticulously planning and managing the materials flow for new Viasat products, ensuring their successful launch.


The day-to-day

  • Take ownership of the resource plan for assigned programs, proactively identifying and closing supply gaps
  • Use MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to efficiently manage inventory and resource allocation
  • Cross-functional collaboration to ensure material needs are met
  • Develop solutions to maintain a seamless flow of raw materials, sub-assemblies, and purchased parts
  • Partner with engineering and program management to understand the manufacturing and material aspects of builds
  • Continuously improve processes and optimize inventory, considering Just-in-Time and other relevant techniques
  • Generate insightful reports on key metrics like inventory levels, program status, and production activity, keeping programs informed and the company on track
  • Perform large-scale transactional activities such as Work Order maintenance, inventory transactions and cross-site materials transfers
  • Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) for both standard and custom products to ensure accuracy and optimize production efficiency
  • Apply comprehensive data interpretation skills to optimize outcomes

What you'll need

  • 3+ years' in Project Planning or a similar role, with a proven track record of success in managing complex projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for advanced data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of growing in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment
  • Strong analytical skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret and carry out the materials plan from inception (early BOM release) to project deployment
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and a passion for continuous improvement
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Salary range

$74,500.00 - $117,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $92,500.00- $138,500.00/ annually
