Job Description

Basic Duties and Responsibilities: Manages people and processes that affect the integrity of the inventory and our system. Drives best practices that result in higher inventory turns, lower costs, fewer internal and supplier issues, and top-level customer service. Encourages teamwork between Supply Chain departments (Inventory Control, Shipping and Purchasing) and production, sales, accounting, and other MDO departments.

  • Use MRP, Excel and verbal communications to create and adjust weekly casting schedules for pipe shop (pipe and pole segments), and finishing as well as TR Flex, Zinc and 401, based on departmental capabilities, customer and hard stock requirements, and stocking level initiatives.
  • Track pipe that needs to go offline and communicate expectations to those offline areas
  • Lead the weekly scheduling meeting with production to ensure available resources and capacity Provide accurate backlogs for sales and management and be able to supply lead times on fast track or large quantity orders
  • Lead a monthly meeting with sales to discuss current and upcoming demand
  • Manage and communicate pipe shipping shortage resolutions to stakeholders.
  • Assist shipping department with inventory issues and cycle counts as needed.
  • Help to maintain accurate BOMs and Routes, production orders, and transfer orders associated with cast and finished pipe
  • Maintain accurate inventories between warehouses
  • Track and reduce excess and obsolete pipe product. Work with shipping and sales to downgrade or ship when possible.
  • Analyze shipping trends, forecasting directives, and company initiatives to create stocking levels and ensure high levels of customer service throughout the year
  • Work with Shipping, Quality and Finishing to complete, expedite and rework products
  • Ensure customer return pipe products (RMEs) are entered into the correct warehouse/location
  • Participates in and handles some pre/post planning/reconciling duties related to bi-monthly and annual physical inventories.
  • Handles certain tasks for other Schedulers and Inventory Control Manager when they are on vacation.
  • Works in a safe manner and follows Company plant and safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Fosters positive work relationships.
  • Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important matters as they arise.
  • Understands and communicates the McWane Way Compass principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 3-5 years of related experience with scheduling in a manufacturing setting and experience with some type of MRP software.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to handle fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs and applications. Mid to high level use in Excel with ability to create pivot tables and create formulas and graphs/charts. Experience in D365 or other Dynamics system preferred.
  • Time and priority management is a must.
